Fall Tour of the Mountains of Arkansas and Southern Missouri
Oct. 14-17th, 2005. |
Ride the Roller Coaster Roads and See the Changing of the Trees!
North Central Arkansas and South Central Missouri are home to some of the
most incredible riding roads to be found. No, the scenery is not as breath taking as
the Rocky Mountains, but the sheer riding enjoyment of the roads is actually better. Most
of the roads in this region have been recently paved. They follow the rolling terrain like
a roller coaster track. The curves are smooth and tight. We will be running through several
several National Forests and Wildlife Management areas. The roads are lightly travelled.
We'll be crossing the White River by ferry on our way up into Missouri to ride the
infamous Highway 125! If you like to carve the corners, you'll love the routes for this
tour!
We will be staying in the town of Mountain Home, nestled in the mountains
just South of the Arkansas/Missouri state line near Bull Shoals Lake. Guests will arrive
Friday night. We will ride both Saturday and Sunday. We will head home on Monday. There is
plenty of parking at the hotel for anyone wishing to trailer their bikes.
This is a ride for the serious rider that wants to spend the entire day
running amazing backroads. Both days will feature routes of nearly 350 miles, but
not to worry, they will each have numerous places where they can be cut short without
sacrificing the fun. Each day we will return to the hotel then head out for dinner together
for some tire kicking and story telling.
